Environmental Commitment
Blooming Flora will always promote the positive virtues of a healthy garden and activities that go some way to helping the environment. Whilst a small suburban garden can not change the world's environmental challenges, if we all do our bit, we can help make a cleaner and sustainable future for our children and their children. Little steps matter!

Plants remove carbon dioxide from the air and produce oxygen through the process of photosynthesis. Plants not only look pretty, they recycle bad gas and create something vital for our survival. Our message here is clear, plant more and nurture what you have, plants love us, as much as we love them.

We will encourage, advise and help you grow your own fruit and vegetables. Growing your own saves money and reduces the trips to the shops or supermarket, reducing your carbon footprint.

Trees and shrubs can help reduce noise pollution near busy roads or tree tracks Blooming Flora can advise and help maintain the right type of planting whilst not compromising right of light.

Gardens deliver a habitat, feeding and hiding place for our native species of birds, insects, mammals, reptiles etc. Blooming Flora will encourage you to help attract the ones we love to see visit our gardens through the introduction of bug hotels, hedgehog houses, bird boxes etc.

Plants, shrubs and trees help filter bad bacteria and chemicals from the ground water improving water quality and significantly help reduce flood risks and erosion by binding soil and keeping sediment out of drains and waterways. Blooming Flora will encourage a well stocked and maintained garden space.

Blooming Flora will encourage you to compost your garden and kitchen waste. Not only does this save you money on costly compost, but reduces that carbon footprint by eliminating visits to the garden centre.

Blooming Flora provide compost. We will always source soil enhancers and compost from suppliers who commit to provide peat free solutions.

Blooming Flora can advise on which plants best suit your pots, yard, borders and planters. The right choice of plants is vital to the type of garden you wish to have and the amount of maintenance needed. Blooming Flora understand what plants grow best where and can advise of the best blooms for your soil type, aspect and expectations. Blooming Flora will never encourage the introduction of invasive new plants that could over-run native species.

Blooming Flora will encourage rain and brown water harvesting rather than letting it run down the drain. The use of water held in water-buts can be used to water and rehydrate the garden.

Blooming Flora commit to repurposing and recycling. This reduces landfill. We take old timber, slates, stone etc and reinvent them into features for your garden space. Take a look at the range of ideas on our 'reclamation' page.

Blooming Flora will avoid the use of pesticides and weed killers where practical. These can be toxic to the pollinators and garden visitors. We will encourage the introduction of pest attacking insects like ladybirds and the use of organic pesticides.

Blooming Flora is committed to reducing the environmental impact and volume of plastic in our day to day work. Whilst we are only a very small user of plastics, we have a part to play. We encourage the use of terracotta clay pots where practical and the use of multi-use plastic plant pots and trays, where plastic pots are the only solution. We promote the use of biodegradable solutions. A toilet roll makes a great seedling pot!
